If there is one thing that has accelerated the pandemic, it is the digital transformation of healthcare to a certain extent. A shift in healthcare management that must not be reversed and whose evolution is expected to be very positive in the coming years. In fact, according to a report prepared by HIMSS Annual European Digital Health Survey 2021, the sector’s priorities are mainly focused on this transformation.

The five main conclusions of this report are:
– The fundamentals of digital health already existed before the pandemic, but the pandemic also revealed significant connectivity and integration gaps in many countries.
– Digital health will be more proactive post-pandemic.
– In many ways, the pandemic has had a positive impact on the transformation of digital health.
– Business expectations in the digital health industry have only taken a modest hit during the pandemic so far.
– The Nordic countries – in particular Estonia – are still seen as the leading role models in digital health.

It also shows that 87% of health centers already include digital services such as Big Data and have a clear commitment to technological security for data protection and privacy.

However, the really important thing that digitalization brings with it is its capacity to improve care and healthcare quality and, therefore, it directly impacts patients’ health.

When we talk about the so-called ‘Hospital of the future’, we should think about technology and the perfect symbiosis between staff and the right tools that allow them to carry out their work without obstacles and administrative setbacks.

Increasing efficiency and optimizing resources generate a very precious commodity: time. Time so that professionals can dedicate it entirely to patients, thus improving diagnoses, reducing waiting room times, and even minimizing waiting lists.

A time that is also very valuable for those patients whose health is running against the clock and where the current healthcare deficit (lack of resources, physically and mentally exhausted professionals, etc.) works against them.

It is precisely to address and correct this situation that ORvital was created. Our intelligent and multipurpose platform for the management and automation of processes in the Surgical Block is the instrument that is always at the disposal of professionals. A solution that works by and for them, facilitating simple yet tedious tasks that reduce the quality of care, such as operational control and coordination in the operating theatre (automation of warnings and notifications to other teams such as porters and cleaning); patient search; transfers; …

In addition to this help in the management of the surgical process, there are two fundamental elements: the Surgical Scheduler and the Virtual Waiting Room.

Surgical Scheduler: The technology developed by MYSPHERA, in collaboration with the Virgen del Rocío Hospital and the University of Seville, allows the task of scheduling to be minimized by automating certain tasks through the application of certain parameters (waiting lists, available operating theatres, maximum waiting times, etc.).

Virtual Waiting Room: Up-to-date information for relatives, available both in the physical waiting room via information screens and in a mobile APP that allows the patient’s status to be followed throughout the process from anywhere. A plus of security and peace of mind at such a delicate time.

As has happened in other sectors of society, digital transformation has arrived in healthcare to stay, evolve and build a future where the quality of care is not diminished by time, stress for medical professionals, or lack of resources. Because, as the pandemic has shown if we lose our health, we lose everything.
