The digital transformation of healthcare is a road with no turning back. Most healthcare centers have already begun this evolution, and although in some it has been accelerated by the pandemic, others have been committed to technological transformation for years. This is the case of the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, a commitment that has earned it first place in Spain in Newsweek magazine’s World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2021 ranking.
A ranking prepared in partnership with Statista, based on in-depth interviews with experts in Smart Hospitals and 13,000 surveys of healthcare professionals and health managers, has placed the hospital in 12th place in Europe and 43rd in the world.
A position it has earned thanks to its continuous efforts in technology with a single objective: to improve the experience not only of patients but also of medical professionals.
In this quest for quality care, our relationship with Vall d’Hebron began in 2018. We both worked actively in the design process of our ORvital solution. A solution that would achieve the center’s main objectives:
- Improve efficiency
- Improve safety
- Improve patient flow
- Improve information availability
- Eliminate verbal instructions
- Respond to daily changes
- Improve patient and family satisfaction
We started only in the General Hospital and today ORvital is used in all the Campus centers with very satisfactory results. The operating theatres have increased their occupancy by more than 12%, which would be equivalent to if they had been in operation for 13 months if we compare it with previous periods.
More results:
And undoubtedly, another important result comparable to the increase in efficiency is the ROI. According to figures published by the center itself, the use of ORvital has saved the center around €10,000 per operating theatre/year, which could translate into cost savings of around €2.3 million in a year.
